Copenhagen

After an uninteresting flight in interestingly uncomfortable seats (really, man on the moon, comfortable airplane seats; i don't get it) and my average amount of sleep, I am in Copenhagen!! It is a very chic airport - clean, modern lines in the Scandinavian style (well, duh); imagine IKEA as an airport (and I think I see clock from that store just to my left). Ooo, I just saw a luggage cart go by - fabulous! They would make a nice moving side table. I actually enjoyed the dinner on the flight, and, for breakfast, was able to have my favorite: exploding yogurt (if you've ever eaten yogurt on an airplane, I'm pretty sure you've experienced this).

It is 22 degrees Celsius here today, which is quite warm. The security guard was kind enough to tell me that I would not be able to get to enjoy it outside; this information came unsolicited on my part. Of course I did not offer her one of my quips; I smiled and pleasantly said, "Oh, of course (enter giggle here)."

From where I'm sitting, I can see the duty free shop loaded with alcohol, and I am holding back from running over there to stock my liquor cabinet. If only alcohol was allowable in the hostel (sigh).

Uh oh. My flight seems to have disappeared from the list of departures. Hmm, I'm in a country at which I cannot speak a whit of the language, there is a potential problem, I am rather tired, and there might be a problem. Oh dear.... That problem has been resolved (actually, there was no problem at all beyond my blindness), but there is an actual crisis arising due to the lack of bathrooms. Hmm. brb.

Does this airport have no bathrooms? Aargh. Now, after waiting 20 minutes for the security door to the gate to open, I am at the gave. I made a new acquaintance while waiting (does this surprise anyone?). She is an architecture student from Toronto who is studying in Copenhagen. Apparently, she visited Chicago recently to look at the architecture, so we discussed buildings, tours, etc.

One thing I've noticed about people in this airport is that their glasses are (to use T's expression) fabuloso! I can't wait to sell my firstborn child for a pair (or someone else's - Mandy? Molly?).
